Everybody knows that yoga helps to stretch your muscles and relax your mind. But have you ever tried laughing with yoga?
Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician who hails from Mumbai, India, believes that he has found another way to make laughter take the stress out of your day. Those practicing this new form, coined “Laughter Yogaâ€, begin by doing breathing exercises using the “ha†sound. The sound begins soft but winds up with the entire group laughing. Dr. Kataria believes he knows why laughter-based yoga is working.
“Stress is building up so much, and people are not finding an easy way to reduce stress. People are looking for something. Depression is taking over the whole world now. It’s a big problem in the West, and it’s spreading,” Kataria commented.
